How to personalize your cover letter with an agent's first name

Updated over 3 months ago

Repunzel™ allows you to send personalized, individually addressed emails to agents and managers.

Here's how to personalize your cover letter so that each email has an agent's first name in the greeting:

If you've started composing your cover letter, you'll notice that there is a small button on the email editor labeled "Insert Agent's name":

To insert the agent's name in the greeting of your email (or anywhere else you want the agent's name to show up), position the cursor to where you want the agent's first name to show up and then click the "Insert Agent's name" button:

For example, if you wanted to begin your cover letter with "Howdy James!", you would:

  1. First type "Howdy " (with a space at the end of "Howdy"), like this:

  2. Then, with the cursor where you want the agent's first name, click on the "Insert Agent's name" button to insert the name placeholder:

  3. Which then automatically inserts the text "{{agent_first_name}}" right after "Howdy ". Do NOT edit the text inside the squiggly brackets or the name placeholder will not work!

  4. Then finish off the greeting by typing an exclamation mark "!" (or punctuation of your choice) right after the last squiggly. It should look like this:

  5. Sending ourselves a test email, we see that our name has been inserted into the name placeholder:

If you don't see your own name in the name placeholder of your test email, simply erase the name placeholder, including the squiggly brackets, and click the "Insert Agent's name" button again.

Here's how the magic happens:

When you click the "Send" button, the Repunzel™ built-in mailer goes down the list of agents from top to bottom and automatically inserts an agent's first name into your email wherever it sees "{{agent_first_name}}" in the body of your email. It then automatically sends them one by one using your own Gmail account while you sit there and sip on your iced hazelnut latte.

Nifty, huh?
